Cooperative Rental Housing
Rental Cooperative housing differs
from regular rental housing. At the cooperatives, residents take care of
the property and handle day-to-day issues. Residents keep the property
clean, do minor repairs, help fill vacancies, and plan activities for
adults and children. There are required training sessions and meetings
before and after moving in. Failure to participate in scheduled meetings
and work parties can result in loss of housing. There is a required
probationary period when residents first lease, after which they gain
membership rights. LATCH currently has four rental cooperatives. They
are described below. Co-op housing is for those who enjoy the
challenges and rewards of working with people and having a voice in
decision making.
